Christen Abels focuses on family and juvenile law throughout Southeast Louisiana. She represents clients in custody, domestic violence, child support, property, and all juvenile related matters with a trauma-informed, client-centered approach.
A Springfield, Louisiana native, Ms. Abels graduated as Valedictorian of Springfield High School and honored as Ms. Springfield. She earned her Juris Doctor from Loyola University New Orleans College of Law, following a Bachelor of Science in Finance from Southeastern Louisiana University.
In addition to her private practice, she serves as an Assistant Public Defender in
the 21st Judicial District, representing juveniles in delinquency and FINS matters in the Hammond City Court. Her previous experience includes clerking for the Honorable Blair D. Edwards and working for the Livingston Parish Clerk of Court, giving her extensive insight into all facets of the legal system.
Mrs. Abels in the 2026 President of the 21st Judicial District Bar Association, and an active member of the Louisiana State Bar Association, Liberty Belles, Alpha Omicron
Pi-Hammond Area Alumnae Chapter, and Southeastern Louisiana University Alumni Association. She is a devoted mother of two boys: Brody and the late Brendan Jr. Her personal and professional experiences fuel her advocacy for children and families.
